The seminar will begin by raising and discussing the important weather and oceanographic questions facing both racers and cruisers today. We will explore how modern numerical weather prediction models work, from the fundamental physics to forecast generation, with a special focus on wave modeling and extreme events. The presentation will guide you through interpreting different short-range and long-range forecasts, closing with an overview of ensemble systems and how probabilistic models can help you manage uncertainty and make better decisions on the water.
